Lumps and bumps appear to do nothing in DiRT Rally 2.0 unless you take off the ground, in which case the wheels can spin more freely and it revs highly if you keep your foot on the accelerator. What I will say is that the environment has more of an impact on car sounds in WRC 8. Having been in actual rally cars, I can say that both do a good enough job of immersing you in the experience aurally. But some cars are a bit electric-sounding.ĭiRT Rally 2.0 is arguably more consistent here, although people still found time to complain about this. The Lancia Stratos sounds particularly epic when in the view where are close to the pop-up headlights. Depending on the car, I find WRC 8‘s engine noises to be great. DiRT Rally 2.0 just seems flatter and more game-like in comparison.īut there are times when WRC 8 overdoes it with the darkening of your view when driving into direct sunlight, which is realistic to a point but at this level it’s plain annoying. Not only is it more visually interesting, there is greater levels of realism to be seen, the backgrounds are more alive and people look more human. On a standard Xbox One, WRC 8 looks more appealing. However, even on a fancy computer with a top-end graphics card DiRT Rally 2.0 just doesn’t look as visually appealing although I will say both games do a great job of extreme weather conditions. But there are some weird graphical issues on Xbox. It’s a non-issue for those unused to the extra smoothness, but it does seem a shame the extra power of the Xbox One X and PS4 Pro goes unused.ĭiRT Rally 2.0, on the other hand, can manage 60fps on consoles and, in my experience, does so rather solidly. There’s also no 60 frames per second mode (FPS) for consoles, which means you will need to play on a PC for that luxury. WRC 8 does unfortunately suffer from the odd bit of slow-down, even on the Xbox One X, but it’s not much of an issue in single player as it can actually help you. What matters is enough detail to provide realism and maintain a solid frame-rate. Neither game is at the cutting edge of graphics, but then neither has to. WRC 9’s release date was the 5th of September, 2019 so you can buy the game from the respective console game store, or head on over to Amazon: PS4 / Xbox One / Nintendo Switch. Both do the rally thing in their own way, but what if you can only buy one? Allow A Tribe Called Cars to help. Good luck.WRC 8 VS DiRT Rally 2.0: Which should you buy? A Tribe Called Cars compares the graphics, gameplay, steering wheel and controller support & more to find out.Ģ019 is a particularly splendid time to like rally games because first we had DiRT Rally 2.0 from Codemasters and now WRC 8, the latest in the series from the French developer, Kylotonn. The four training courses can be very helpful for improving you driving technique. A couple clicks of a setting can have a major impact on the vehicles performance, least on my hardware. You learn a lot about how the game behaves when you do this. And if you're not happy with these settings do what I did, start with the defaults and start tweaking. It does require some effort on your part. I spent some time with Wreckfest a while back doing the same and decided to take a stab at WRC and couldn't be happier with both. I have 1800 hours of playing time with DR2, and honestly never thought I'd like this game, I was so unhappy when I first bought it that I wrote the developers, didn't touch it for months and was willing to wait until 2023 for CM version. Be careful with Engine, it can cause all kinds of weird vibrations. I've done a lot of testing, let me know if you have any questions. Honestly, I don't see much difference regardless of what ingame Max Angle is set too. If you change the settings in Game Controller it almost always resets the ingame Max Wheel Angle to 200. Thru process of elimination was able to determine that reinstalling WRC was the only way to restore FFB. Yes it has it's issues, yesterday I uninstalled Fanalab and it hosed my FFB in WRC. I found that if you take the time to tweak the settings to your hardware this game isn't nearly as bad as people say. I have a DD2, R300 Podium and Heusinveld Pedals, Shifter and HB, spent a few weeks tweaking settings, changing them one click at a time, testing some rally's and ended up with the following. I guess it needs also a bit of getting used to since for some reason cars tend to spin a bit more than dirt? □įor me, surface vibrations are for this game the best and kind of only □ sort of feedback. I know it looks like a looooot of vibration, but it's really not. !!! WARNING !!! My wheel base is set on -LOW TORQUE. Still crying hard to find a better feeling for low speeds, but i guess it's gonna be hard because of the power steering of modern cars? I finally came out with these settings -! which are by no mean perfect !- but they resemble the most the feeling i get with dirt rally 2.
